I come from a family of knitters, lace makers and sewers but learned nothing from them but i collected fabrics that caught my eye, Magpie like.
I was writing an article about the textile industry when I was shown around a disused wool mill. Coloured fibres skitting across the floor and gathering like tumbleweed touched something in me. I met some weavers and feltmakers and learned I could make my own fabric from wool. Durable, warm sustainable and much like clay under the right conditions.
Every piece I make is unique. I do not follow any patterns and the colours are mostly blended by myself. I use fibres in a painterly way.
